Footy Clip keeps your muddy footwear outside of your bag

A surprisingly simple solution to a common inconvenience.

As a life-long football player, muddy boots is a constant inconvenience.

When you untie your laces and take off your muddy cleats, where do they go?

For most players, it’s in their sports bag, getting dirt on all their belongings.

A more dedicated player may invest in a seperate boots bag, of which within a couple of uses will fill the inside of any footwear that step foot inside with mud.
When I looked for a solution to this incredibly tedious experience, I didn’t find a clear answer.

Players often come up with the solution of tying their shoes to their bag strap, but this stretches the laces, and causes more inconvenience down the line.

From this came Footy Clip

Early concepts and prototypes were clunky, but an essential part of the process

Each iteration was made in Solidworks and tested against the inbuilt force simulation to remove stress points out of the form, then 3D printed 10x and provided to 4 users for use for 2+ weeks.

Using these clips was as convenient as I had imagined! No more mud in my bag, no more boots bag, it was fantastic.

A perfect balance exists between grip strength and shoe preservation that is yet to be reached. That said, at this iteration of the project the product performs remarkably.
